How would you raise your child? How were you raised?
If your parents yelled too much at you, you will probably try to go mild with your child, but now is the moment to tell you that being too mild can actually harm your child.
Your mother was right when she asked you to tidy your room or do the dishes. She was just doing you a favor. Now studies show that strict parenting actually produces successful children.
A professor at the University of Essex Erica Rascon found that successful individuals are raised by strict, demanding mothers. His study involved over 15,000 children aged between 13 and 14. These children were monitored during the period between 2004 and 2010.
Mothers with high expectations raised secure and confident children. “Mild” moms raised spoiled children, and 4% of them became pregnant teens.
Strict mothers helped their children to finish a college and get a well-paid job. Believe it or not, strict mothers do raise more successful children.
Some children didn’t want to follow the advice their parents gave them, but most of them were still influenced by their parents’ recommendations.
So, strict mothers aren’t actually enemies. They just create a perfect environment for their babies.
So, go harder on your child, and it will thank you later in life.
